How does it all start. When and where were we first bitten by the Boating Bug.
For some of us it was as kids. Perhaps summers on the lake, out fishing with Dad. Maybe it was a rental boat, perhaps he even owned his own boat.
Heck, for some of us it may have even started earlier than that, watching TV and seeing Opey Taylor fishing with his Dad Andy on the Andy Griffith show.
Others may not have even noticed the entire boating world until they were in their adult years. A friend or a neighbor invites you to go boating and before you know it, you're hooked!
Even the word boating holds many possible paths. From just cruising around the lake to offshore trips down to Baja California in search of big tuna and billfish, the possibilities are endless.
Maybe it was from the water skiing wakeboarding side. Over the past ten years, just as with snowboarding, wakeboarding has truly become a thing. You know it's real when there begins to be an entire industry built around a particular sport.
The boats themselves designed specifically with wakeboarding in mind. With their overhead racks designed to carry the boards as well as the weighting systems designed for optimum pulling power. And by pulling, we're referring to the towing of the wakeboarder themselves. Add in the amazing sound systems and you know you're in for an adventure.
Now, that's not to say that each and every style of boat is designed with only one purpose in mind. Not at all. Without a doubt there are numerous multi-use hull designs on the market today. Yet, while for many it's nice to have options, others know they are only interested in one type of boating adventure and will choose a hull designed especially for that purpose.
We could go on and on with the seemingly endless choices in hull designs but needless to say, if you can think of it, chances are someone has created a boat designed especially for that purpose.
